Forthcoming BPOTY events at Rutland Birdfair

BPOTY director and competition organiser Rob Read outlines the BPOTY events for the Birdfair weekend - be sure not to miss the main awards presentation hosted by Chris Packham.

Rob comments: “After months of intensive preparation, the BPOTY team can hardly believe that Birdfair is once again just around the corner. It seems only a short time ago that we were at Rutland Water with the exhibition last year and celebrating all the 2018 winners at the awards event hosted by Chris Packham, including the overall winner Pedro Jarques Krebs came all the way from Peru! Be sure not to miss it again this year as we have some great photographs to share and winners to celebrate.”

There is plenty happening again this year with the 2019 BPOTY exhibition on display for the first time. Come and take a look and have a chat with the BPOTY team - we will be located at the Book Signing/BPOTY Exhibition Marquee close to the main Green Entrance and opposite the Main Events Marquee. You never know, you may even be offered tea and biscuits!

So here is what we will be up to and when over the weekend:

Friday 16th August, 14.30

Join Phil Morgan at the Bird Photographer of the Year Exhibition Marquee. Morgan Kunda Camp is located on the north bank of the River Gambia. Established with philanthropic aims for the local community, it also serves as a base for photographers and birders alike with all profits going to a charitable foundation. Phil Morgan explains the ethos behind the camp and the photographic and birding opportunities it affords.

Saturday 17th August, 16.00

Our main event for the weekend - join Chris Packham and the BPOTY team and celebrate all the winners of the 2019 Bird Photographer of the Year competition. In its fourth year, BPOTY goes from strength to strength attracting some of the most spectacular bird photography the world has to offer.

Sunday 18th August, 11.00

Come and join Young Bird Photographer of the Year ambassadors and judges Megan McCubbin and Danielle Connor in the Bird Photographer of the Year Exhibition Marquee as they share their passion for the natural world and their love of photography. An informal event for the whole family, you will be surrounded by all the fabulous photographs from the Bird Photographer of the Year 2019 competition and enjoy an insight into how these two young up and coming photographers approach their craft: they may even share what they will be looking for in a winning image for the 2020 competition!
