BPOTY - Celebrating the best images from Italy
Over the last few weeks, the team at Bird Photographer of the Year have been celebrating the photography received from photographers based in various countries around the world. Our 2019 competition was blessed with some amazing images from our Italian photographers and we take the opportunity to highlight the best of these photographs as chosen by our judging panel.
Showcased are: Marco Fabbri, Marco Valentini, Saverio Gatto, Riccardo Farina, Roberto Barilani and Stanislao Basileo.

As well as receiving two Commendations from the judges, our audience awarded Marco Fabbri with their People’s Choice Award for the Garden and Urban Birds category for his image of a Barn Swallow.
Receiving four Commendations from the judges is Marco Valentini.
Saverio Gatto has tasted success in the competition previously having won the Best Portrait category in 2018. Two Commendations from the judges was Saverio’s reward in 2019 with the following images.
Riccardo Farina was awarded a Commendation in the Bird Behaviour category for the following image of Great Crested Grebes performing the weed dance.
Roberto Barilani received a Commendation for this imaginative double exposure image entered in the Creative Imagery category.
Stanislao Basileo received a Commendation from the BPOTY judges for this White Stork photograph entered in the Birds in the Environment category.
