On the basis of a chance encounter at the UK’s Birdfair I visited the Morgan Kunda Lodge https://www.morgankunda.com/  in January this year, as part of a trip to The Gambia. Located on the north bank of the eponymous river it is a unique location from which to explore nearby savannah grassland Sahel scrub. Set in the heart of a rural community, it offers the chance to experience a taste of essential Africa with superb opportunities for bird photography all around. It is owned and run by a Gambian registered charity, the Morgan Clark Foundation (Gambia), it employs local people and when they make a profit every Pound and Dalasi goes to help fund the charity. It’s real ecotourism in action. https://www.facebook.com/MorganKundaLodge
